∙ What is your current lead time?

Our current lead time is posted on the front page of our website (currently 2-3 weeks). All orders are made to the customer's specifications.

∙ Why the long lead time?

In some cases, because of the combination of light and firearm or a new addition to our inventory, we have yet to produce the mold for the holster fabrication. We must design and CNC machine a new mold before producing the holster and this takes time. At times, the lead time is affected by the volume of orders such as when sales are posted, or a new product is released.

At times orders are completed sooner than the lead time and customers will be advised with a shipping notice only.

∙ I send an email and I have not gotten a reply?

Emails are answered within 3-5 business days. We are a family-owned business, and our hours are from 8 am to 4pm Monday to Friday. Eastern Standard time. We are closed on Weekends and Statutory holidays.  We do our best to answer as soon as possible.

My light/laser set up is not on the list. Can you still make it?

Not currently. We are continually adding new models as we can, check back often or follow us on Facebook and Instagram to keep track of our latest announcements.

Can I use a light bearing holster without light?

Simple answer is No. There is no retention on a light bearing holster when trying to holster a gun without the light. Most of the retention is set on the light itself.

If you purchase a holster from us made for a firearm with a light attached, the light needs to be attached. Some customers have reported that their holster still retains the weapon without the light, however we do not recommend this. Should the user choose to do so otherwise, the user does so at their own risk.

I am local to the Ottawa area, can I pick up my order?

Yes, you can. Upon checkout use the Code “PICKUP” This will eliminate the shipping cost and advise us that you will be picking up your order.  Once we complete your order, we will send you an email to book a pickup time.

∙ How much will it cost to ship my order

∙ What is covered under your warranty?

We offer a lifetime warranty on all our Kydex products.  We do not cover user neglect (leaving your product on the dash of a car in the middle of a Canadian summer.  Altering your holster in any way voids the warranty.  If your product needs repair, we will repair it.  If it needs to be replaced, we will replace it.

Please email at sales@grayfoxstrategic.ca with the order # to receive detailed instructions. Unauthorized returns will not be accepted and do not guarantee warranty work/replacement.

∙ What voids the warranty?

Altering your holster in any way and neglect voids the warranty.

∙ How thick is the kydex you use for your holster and mag carriers?

We chose .080 Kydex because it is lightweight, incredibly strong, flexible, and shows great definition in the final product.

∙ Will Kydex cause wear on my firearm?

Over time, with any holster and normal use of your gun, you may see wear on your firearm's finish. To help minimize this it is best to keep your holster clean from lint, dirt, and debris. Kydex material is softer than any part of the surface of the gun; however, lint, dirt or any other foreign objects that get trapped in between your weapon and the Kydex will act as an abrasive causing additional wear to your weapon. We have found the smooth surfaces like the inside of Kydex will help protect your weapon far greater than any other material holsters. Leather, suede, and other porous material holsters can be more abrasive than Kydex although softer to the touch. Your firearm is a tool of the sport, and one should expect with time and use to see distinct marks on such tools just like any craftsman would see wear on tools with use.

If your weapon is a collectible or investment class weapon, we do not recommend holstering it in any holster as some marks will diminish their long-term value.

∙ Do Kydex Holsters need any special care?

No, that is why the popularity of this material has skyrocketed. Just do not subject it to high levels of heat, as this will alter the shape. Never leave your holster in a vehicle, and certainly not in direct sunlight.

∙ How do I clean my holster?

We recommend using a rag and a little rubbing alcohol or water to lightly clean dust and debris from your holster.

∙ How about maintenance?

Before each use, inspect the condition of the holster, belt clip(s) and hardware for any signs of damage or loose screws. Damaged parts and materials could lead to a potential serious injury. Do not use the holster at this point.

∙ Do I have to put thread locker on my screws?

It is common knowledge that putting thread locker on the screws will prevent them from eventually backing out. This is the reason we apply thread locker on all the screws during manufacturing with the exception of the retention screws. Once you have dialed in the retention you prefer apply some of the provided Vibra-Tite reusable thread locker on the retention screws.

Holsters should be checked daily for issues. We do not assume any liabilities for a preventable hardware malfunction. We highly recommend checking your gear daily, especially if you are in Law Enforcement or the Military.

∙ Is there a break in period?

Nope! Retention should be perfect out of the box, but if your holster needs to be adjusted, use a Philips head screwdriver to tighten or loosen the hold.

∙ How do I adjust the retention?

You can adjust the retention by tightening or loosening the screw(s) in front of the trigger guard. On light-bearing models, the retention screws are in the approximate area of the trigger guard.

∙ Does every holster make that “Click” sound?

The “click” sound that most people think of when purchasing a Kydex holster comes from the pocket created by the trigger guard area. When purchasing a holster with a weapon light attached the pocket no longer exists due to the channel created for the light. Some lights will still make that “click” sound however, most small/flush weapon lights like the PL-Mini or APLc will not. All our holsters come with multiple points of adjustable retention to retain the weapon via friction. The “click” sound is not something we guarantee with our holsters.

∙ What is the difference between an IWB holster and an OWB holster?

An IWB or Inside The Waistband Holster sits inside the waistband where an OWB or Outside The Waistband holster sits outside of the waistband.

We recommend only using our holsters as classified and should user choose to do so otherwise, the user do so at their own risk.

∙ Do your holsters accommodate compensators?

Please contact us before placing your order to ensure that we can accommodate your compensator. Not all our custom molds are designed to allow for compensators.

∙ Do your holsters adapt to other platforms/attachment systems?

Only our Cerberus and Phoenix holsters have a pattern that is compatible with Safariland, Blade-Tech, G-Code, and other belt attachment systems.

∙ Do your holsters accommodate after market sights?

All our holsters are cut to accept most red dots and upgraded sights (up to 0.4"/10mm).  Contact us if you have any questions at sales@grayfoxstrategic.ca

∙ What is the difference between UBL and CUBL?

Mid-ride universal belt loop (UBL) is a mid-ride belt loop.  It will not pinch or add pressure to hip bone, locks onto the duty bel with belt slot design, and is compatible with any holster with the 3-hole pattern.

The Cantabile Belt Loop (CUBL) allows the user to choose the cant position on their holster based on their preference. Extremely adaptable, the CUBL is integrated with Safariland UBL products and 3-hole patterned holsters.

Currently, we only offer CUBL’s.

∙ What is a Sweat Guard, and what is its purpose?

The sweat guard is the extended portion of Kydex on the back of the holster that extends up the slide. It helps prevent the weapon slide from direct contact with your body or clothing This helps to keep moisture off your firearm. It also acts as an index point to aid in re-holstering.

∙ What is a concealment wing?

This is an extension that is added to the IWB (Inside Waist Band) holster. It provides a secondary place for your belt to contact.  It adds torsion to the holster and rotates the grip closer to your body.  It is meant for forward-carrying holsters but can be used in almost any position.

∙ Do you offer fabric covered options?

We offer an outer layer fabric wrap on some of our products; it is a 500D Mil-Spec Cordura that we glue to the outside of Kydex prior to manufacturing.  Some of the benefits of getting the fabric on the outside of the holster is an added thickness and stiffness to that holster, along with some scratch resistance to the holster. The fabric has a water-repellent coating on it from the factory.

We do not offer fabric options for the inside of the holsters.

For those who opt to get the fabric, you must know that over time it does fray and possibly come apart. Normal maintenance on the fabric is recommended, keeping the edges trimmed and taking a lighter to it to seal it off.

In the manufacturing process, the fabric-covered Kydex has less flexibility and will result in less definition, bunching, and some lifting. See the Photos below.

∙ Do I need Level 2 retention on my holster? How can I get a Level 2 for my holster?

A Level 2 holster has an active retention device in addition to the passive retention of the holster itself, making for two sources of retention. Commonly, a thumb break, hammer loop, or trigger guard lock is the device in question. These are extremely popular for open carry (where permitted by law), law enforcement and the Military.

If you are simply going to the range, then a level 2 holster is not required and in competition shooting it is not acceptable.

Due to limited availability, level 2 is only available upon request only.

Our Level 2 retention units are refurbished from Safariland holsters and are categorized by quality. All units are inspected for functionality, cleaned, and lubricated.

Class A is gently used to new, minor scuffing and scratches.

Class B is good to fair, but has scuffing, scratches, and some minor gouges.

∙ Do I need a leg strap?

A single thigh strap can make a big difference in stabilizing an offset holster. By securing the holster setup to your leg, the thigh strap prevents the holster from pulling away when drawing your weapon. Our thigh strap connects to a built-in point at the lowest end of the holsters. It works great and drops the thigh strap about 2.0" lower than those that typically run in the space of the UBL or off the lower UBL connection point. With the pivot point being a riveted hole, it makes for a more flexible and comfortable design and does not restrict movement or dig into your inner thigh.

∙ What if my holster does not fit?

In the unlikely event that your holster does not fit, we will fix it for you ASAP- free of charge.

We very rarely have fitment issues. When we do it is generally an extended or left-handed mag release that was not mentioned or missed during design. This is not a big deal; we will send you a return label via e-mail and get it fixed right up!

In the extremely rare cases where a holster just does not fit and it is not due to a wrong firearm selection or any external add-ons or modifications, we can alter the holster for you to fix it or we can offer a refund.

If a fitment issue is due to wrong firearm selection or extensive modifications that were not noted by the buyer upon ordering, we are not liable, and it will not qualify for an exchange.

∙ I ordered a holster with a 1.5-inch belt clip, but I bought a new belt that is bigger. Can I get bigger clips?

Yes. You can order bigger attachments from our website in Attachments to find what you require.

∙ I lost the hardware for my holster! What do I do?

If you lost your hardware that mounts the attachments to your holster or mag carrier, contact us at sales@grayfoxstrategic.ca and we will make sure you are taken care of.

∙ Can I send in my knife to be fitted for a sheath?

Unfortunately, we are no longer offering custom knife sheaths.
